Copenhagen at a Glance: a three-hour stopover itinerary
Dear followers,
If you, by any chance, are flying through Copenhagen and have couple of hours in between flights, this post will be useful as below I will describe an efficient way to sightsee the Danish capital in a few hours.
Copenhagen has a well developed infrastructure and it takes little effort to find your way to the city center. Just hop on the metro to Kongens Nytorv Station (this will take about 13-15 min) and from station walk to Memorial Anchor. You’ve reached Nyhavn- a 17-century waterfront, entertainment and canal District.
Going North along Bredgate Road you will reach a Frederick’s Church and Amalienborg Square and Palace, which is the Danish Royal family’s winter residence. Keep going further north and you will arrive at Kastellet- a 17-century star fortress, which until now houses Danish Ministry of Defence.
Another nice spot to see is St. Albans Church, it is located next to the Kastellet.Walk along Langelinie promenade and find the famous bronze Statue of the little Mermaid, a personage from the fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen.
The Statue of Little Mermaid became a major attraction for tourist from all over the World since 1913. And this time it brought us here in our break between 2 long haul flights. It was worth to get out of airport and have this wonderful walk in fresh air.
Hope this article is useful. Safe journey to all of you!
